Biofeedback
Biofeedback is a mind–body technique in which individuals learn how to modify their physiology for the purpose of improving physical, mental and emotional health. Similar to physical therapy, biofeedback training requires active participation on the part of clients and often regular practice between training sessions. Research has shown that biofeedback interventions are efficacious in treating a variety of medical conditions. Clinical biofeedback may be used to manage disease symptoms as well as to improve overall health and wellness through stress management training. Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback is a non-invasive procedure that measures a client’s brainwaves and brain connectivity and provides the client with real-time feedback about how the brain is functioning. It is used to help teach self-control of brain functions through real-time visual and auditory feedback. Over time, clients learn to recognize when their brain is in a certain state and learn to recreate the desired state, such as relaxation, or avoid undesired states, such as brain-fog, in their daily lives. Neurofeedback has evidence as an effective intervention for multiple disorders including ADHD, epilepsy, anxiety, depression, cognitive issues and others. Up to date list of research articles here.
Stimulation Technologies
Stimulation Technologies available at MindBoost include audio-visual entrainment, tDCS, tACS, vagal stimulation and photobiomodulation. These interventions can be added to neurofeedback and biofeedback training programmes to speed up learning and progress. Stimulation devices are directed at improving cognitive function, increasing attention and focus, and reducing stress and anxiety.
Brain Mapping: QEEG
We offer comprehensive 19-channel electroencephalograms that are processed through Neuroguide and WinEEG software to identify brain dysfunction related to the client’s symptoms. This is the first essential step to Neurofeedback training so we can create a tailored protocol specifically for YOUR brain. After all, no two brains are alike. You can also choose to just do the assessment to track brain function and will be provided with a comprehensive report afterwards.
PsychoPhysiological Therapy
Our clinicians offer an innovative intervention to create meaningful positive change to mental health by integrating biofeedback within a counselling session. Electronic monitoring of physiology enhances the recognition of mind-body linkages. Individuals can deny many emotions and desires to themselves cognitively, yet the body will disclose undeniable physical reactions when the subject is discussed. By including biofeedback within a counselling and psychotherapy session, the process is enhanced and this is specially helpful for working through stress, anxiety, phobias and trauma symptoms.
